Dust & Crackers

from Three Days In A Box by Mark Nichols

/

about

It's hard to not let the native influence creep in. So fun to sing high like that.

lyrics

Put the dust and the crackers in a jar
And walk as far as you can
To a place where people seem to be listening
And you can tell, because their eyes
Occasionally flick back on you
And they don't move
And you'll want to listen to what they say too
And share your crackers and the dust

And then you dance all night to the odd percussion
And the rhythms are exceptionally unorthodox
(But that's OK)
Just hold on. Just hold on.

Sometimes I feel like a whale at sea
Sometimes I feel like it happened to me.
Huh?

When you get back to civilization
You'll feel a little funky
For a few days, maybe even depressed
But you're going to soon see a look in people's eyes
When they talk to you
And everything is slightly different
Maybe wrong- maybe right
Don't worry
Just find someplace to move
And it'll all come back to you

And then you dance all night to the odd percussion
And the rhythms are exceptionally unorthodox
(But that's OK)
Just hold on. Just hold on.

Sometimes I feel like a whale at sea
Sometimes I feel like it happened to me.
Huh?
